It’s been a long, long wait of about 10 years for all KLBCians (7years 3 months for authorities' approval & 2 ½ years for construction). The many months of patiently waiting for the new building to be completed came to an end when we officially held our Grand Opening on October 1, 2006.

As we reflect on the past 30 months, we cannot help but praise God for His amazing hand of protection and provision upon us. He kept us safe from physical danger, He sent funds (RM10 million) through His people and well-wishers of KLBC for the construction and He gave us a comfortable and affordable place to worship Him on Sundays while we waited for the construction of the building to be completed.

Rightly so, October 1, 2006 will go down in our history as the beginning of a new chapter for us - a brand, new chapter of experiencing His marvelous grace and love in our midst. It has been three months since we moved back and the building is already fully utilized with different language groups worshipping under one roof. Services and classes are still back-to-back and it may not be long before we face the crunch of insufficient space. But for now, we are learning to share with each other God’s blessings as we use this new facility to make Him known and extend His kingdom in our community.

Ten is a significant number, especially for Kuala Lumpur Baptist Cheras Centre. We want to give glory to our God for His faithfulness over these past ten years. Since we started KLBCC on October 4, 1998,  His guidance and provision for KLBC satellite church in Cheras has always been overflowing. We have grown over the years in learning to walk by faith both spiritually and numerically as we reach out to the residents in Cheras.

Surely, this is another landmark for KLBCC as three hundred and fifty-three worshippers packed the new sanctuary praising our Heavenly Father for His faithfulness. As we celebrate God’s goodness, we want to thank all those who participated in the building of God’s house. God has moved and touched His people to give generously in cash and in kind.

Again, let us be reminded that the building itself is not the end but a means to achieve far greater things for God. So let us join hands and continue to shine for Jesus as reflected in the theme of our church – “Knowing Christ and Making Him Known”.
