May 26 - 28 were the dates set aside for our A to Z Camp this year at the Trolak Resort in Sungkai, Perak. Forty-three campers aged 7 - 13 years old joined this camp that turned out to be a camp with a DIFFERENCE!
The theme for the camp was based on
1 Thessalonians 5:16 - 18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this God's will for you in Christ Jesus." For many of the campers, there were plenty of opportunities to apply that biblical truth during the camp. The programme included lessons on manners and also Bible lessons on the dangers of complaining, griping, murmuring, moaning and groaning as seen in the lives of the ISraelites when they wandered in wilderness for forty years before entering the Promised Land.
Apart from the teaching essions, the campers also enjoyed the flying fox, the obstacle race and the outing to the Sungai Klah Hot Springs where we spent a whole morning and had lunch there before heading back to our camp sit. overall, the campers had a balance of spiritual food and good physical workout. For many of them it was also the first time they experienced sleeping in tents and "feeding the mosquitoes" when we first arrived at the campsite. But, once the mosquitoes had "welcomed" us to their territory, they pretty much left us alone for the rest of the camp. As one camper proudly said, "Thank God, I conquered the mosquitoes!" .

We are grateful to the Lord for giving us an unforgettable camp.We experienced His grace and goodness as we learned to give thanks in everything. The campers discovered that they could survive without their computers and air-conditioners. Going back to the basics and nature was not so daunting after all for this group of city kids. For most us them at least, they gained a new appreciation for the comfort of their beds and air-conditioners at home.
"When is the next camp?" asked a camper. Well, about the same time next year but until then, our prayer is that the lessons learned have been engraved upon their young hearts and it will not just be the fun they will remember but the goodness and faithfulness of God in their lives.
