KLBCC FAMILY CAMP

Our theme for the camp this year was "A Happy Marriage Makes A Happy Family" and four new families joined us at this camp. .

As a shepherd and marriage counselor, I felt that there was a great need to bring the families together for a greater cause and purpose for the Lord Jesus Christ. A happy marriage is a perfect and ideal environment for parents to raise God-fearing children. As I reflected on the past two years since our last Family Camp, I was convicted of the importance of helping married couples who are struggling to survive in a cold and demanding world where oftentimes compromises are made at the expense of the marriage relationship. With this in mind, we conducted a Marriage Conference during the camp based on materials written by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs entitled "Love and Respect."

The response to the lessons highlighted in the sessions was very encouraging and many were moved to tears, with some spouses seeking forgiveness from each other and asking God to work on their marital relationship. At the close of the camp, husbands made a commitment to love their wives unconditionally whilst wives committed to respect their husbands. I am confident that this is just the beginning of God's power at work in these marriages. As their pastor, I am excited to see God touching and transforming lives.

Other highlights included the children's programme conducted by Sis. Elaine (a Malaysian Care staff), beach telematch, a youth drama in honour of their parents and a teambuilding talent night.

We held a worship service at the campsite on the last day of the camp and we want to thank God for all those who came as we now look forward to the next Family Camp in 2010.
